About

Hello, welcome to my blog!  I’m an amateur photographer that simply has a compulsion to document life as I see it.  I’m inspired by all types of photography and often enjoy the works of those that are very different than mine but I do tend to gravitate to the street to document the spontaneity of life with the hope of capturing the essence of my subject.  That split second that cannot be duplicated can tell us so much about ourselves.

Photography is an escape for me and this blog serves as my creative outlet that allows me to interact and exchange thoughts with so many great people.  I think the only thing that stirs my emotions as much as a captivating photograph is music but that is a whole other story.

Thanks for spending some time on my blog and if you have signed up to follow my posts and/or made any comments it is truly appreciated, I love all the feedback.

All the best & happy blogging to all!

Mark

  2. I love your photos! I guess it reminds me the world is beautiful for those who take time to look closely. Yeah, that probably sounds cliche. Anyway, thank you for sharing your work!

    • Hi Lilly, thank you very much for taking the time to look around and for your very flattering comment. It’s nice to know you enjoyed my posts :). Hope to see you around at some point in the future. Cheers

    • Hi Pat. You too have some fabulous work on your site. I would highly recommend anyone reading this to check it out. Thanks a lot for stopping by and leaving your words of encouragement.

  3. Greetings from New England-
Wow. You’re photography exemplifies what Kertesz had encouraged. Your social antenna with the camera is wonderful. I just wanted to stop in and say “thanks” for stopping by my blog. I wish you all the best in your pursuits with photography and in the blogosphere…Ciao!

    • Hi Carlo,

It’s very nice of you to take the time to craft such a great compliment, it means a lot to me. André was a genius! The only thing I have in common with him is his name, I wish I had just a small fraction of his talent but alas I love to take to the street and document things I see. Have a great day and hope to speak again in the near future – all the best to you.

  4. Congratulations on the One Year Mark! Amateur or not, you have produced some beautiful work from what I can see here – I hope you continue to feel passionate about your pastime and eventually end up being able to spend much of your time doing it – and perhaps even generating income that way 🙂

  10. Hi Mark,
Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my “Take a seat”.
I really have to do more in B&W 😉
What a pleasure it is to look trough your photo’s!!

  11. Hi Paula, so nice of you to just drop by and check in 🙂 My summer is going by much too fast and things are still so incredibly busy. I do plan on spending some time this weekend going through some recent work of mine and posting an image. How was your holiday? Did you travel out of country?

  12. Mark, thanks for all the wonderful likes and comments on my posts, followed by your follow! I’m honored that you chose to click that button. I have spent a bit of time browsing through your wonderful photos and I am just enthralled by your captures. I will be revisiting each and commenting, but I wanted to sign on right away so that I won’t miss anything else from you! And I love your header image, by the way – I see why “Pick” resonated with you 😉

  13. Hello Mark, I understand your compulsion to capture moments, that will never be again… and yet we miss so many – don’t we. I love your work – simply stunning! Love the way you capture those street faces – priceless! 🙂

  14. Hi Anica, it’s very nice of you to come over to my blog and check it out 🙂 I’m really glad you like it, street photography is not for everyone but I’m so fascinated by people and their honest and true reflections. You have some great outdoor & scenic photo’s on your blog which I very much enjoyed. Have a great day – Mark

      • You`re very welcome, I am glad that my comment set off your day well. I dont know too much about photography (yet), because I am an amateur and there is still a lot to learn, but I think the hardest thing in photography is to capture real emotions. I am following your blog now, so looking forward to see more of your images, and get some inspiration.

  15. Hi Paula, a close friend of mine designed the image and I liked it so thought I’d try using it for a while. I’m not 100% certain I will continue to use but for now I’m liking the change. Thank you for noticing though and I’m glad you think it’s still cool although I know it’s not as personal.

    • Thank you so much for thinking of my blog, I’m very honoured that you would consider nominating me however I respectfully decline. I hope that is okay, I do not mean to offend you. I should have noted on my about page that I’m not comfortable with award nominations however it did not occur to me, I suspect I never anticipated receiving one. Thank you once again and hope to speak with you soon.

  16. Hi Mark,

Lovely blog you have! And thank you for following mine. Photography is a great way to escape the daily routine. It taught me to look at beauty much more.

    Keep up the great work!

    Have a great weekend,
    Tieme

  17. Hi Mark. Many thanks for you comment and question (which I have answered) on my raindrops picture. We seem to have something in common as apart from photography another passion of mine is music. As I commented on another blog recently, I’m really attracted to street photography but so far, with one exception, have never been very happy with my attempts at it.

  18. Hi, and thank you for liking one of my posts. Sometimes, a moment simply needs to be caught, with a camera or a pen, to capture the essence, bringing back the feeling one experienced at a deeper level. The world speaks to us in all things, through our feelings, our intuition. I think you have a good eye for that.

  19. I was here !! I love photos from life and about life, faces are very interesting…unusual…special…bat where is..YOUR face?? I think here in the blog-world it’s important to look each other, face to face….to see …to smile and to be mutual and visual friends !! nice to meet you !!

    • And thank you for being here and having a look around 🙂 I love to capture people in what I would call their true state of being, it tells us so much yet for some reason I’m not always so fond of showing mine. I have in the past and will again but for now i’m using this image because a good friend of mine designed it and I really like it. It is really nice to meet you and I hope we have further dialogue in the future. All the best to you

    • Hi Paula, I’m always so hesitant to show an image of myself, not sure why? But thought it would be nice to show one that isn’t so serious. I use a rather old Canon 40d but honestly it’s been on the shelf a lot lately. I mainly use an Olympus OM-D EM-5. For my style of work it’s the perfect camera to use and it takes gorgeous photo’s, I just love it.
